TO MARK this momentous occasion, the Running Brook PTA will be hosting special 50th Birthday events and programs throughout the 2020-2021 school year to celebrate.
We cannot wait to celebrate the positive impact Running Brook has had on our community, students and their families.
If Running Brook has played a part in your life directly or indirectly, won’t you help us continue the tradition of fun, thoughtful education for the new generation?
While our original plans for in-person celebrations, cake sharing and special guests are put on hold, we hope you will still help us celebrate this joyous occasion.
Here are a few ways YOU can help recognize 50 years of Running Brook Panther Pride!
Are you an alumni of Running Brook Elementary School? We are assembling materials for a time capsule to be held on the school grounds with a planned opening in 2070. If you have photos, documents, school work or other memories that you are willing to part with, we would love to have them. Email a photo or a written description of your item to RBES PTA 50th.
We will respond with further instructions.
Show your Panther Pride with T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, shorts and NEW this year…face masks!
Consider donating $50 in recognition of Running Brook’s 50th Birthday.
Of course any amount is welcome and appreciated. All donations go to support our school community.
Each $50 for 50 years donation has the ability to support students needs in a variety of ways.
$50 CAN PROVIDE:
– a year’s worth of school supplies for five (5) students
– a free yearbook to two (2) graduating 5th graders
– a backpack of food each week for one student for half the school year
– field trip costs for five (5) students when in person schooling returns
– school spirit wear for three (3) students
– one (1) student lunch for a month
– grad t-shirts for five (5) graduating fifth graders
And Many More Things!
This spring, we plan to hold a RBES Birthday Party. Whether in-person or virtual, we want to bring our entire community together for one big birthday bash! We could use a few volunteers to help us brainstorm, organize and implement. If you are interested in volunteering, email us with your name and contact information.
Running Brook first opened its doors in 1970 with an open classroom design for grades K-5. The school was designed as a single-story building.
The school then underwent renovations to enclose the open design and instead create individual classrooms. A single-story addition, that included a gym and two (2) additional classrooms, were also part of the renovations.
Another renovation was completed in 2006 that modernized all of the interior spaces.
The most recent renovation project completed in 2014, addressed the continued population growth of Columbia West and the Southeastern regions. The project provided 100 seats of additional classroom space by adding a 2-story classroom, cafetorium expansion and additional core infrastructure space necessary to operate effectively as the population around the school building grew.
Running Brook's spirit and impact on the community grows even more heading into our 50th Birthday year!
We are very excited to welcome all our new friends transferring from Northfield Elementary in the 2020-21 school year!
